VAS (Standard Edition) includes the following functional modules:

• Print-IT (EMF and PDF universal print driver for client, LAN, and WAN printing)
• MetaProfiles-IT (advanced user profile management)
• Manage-IT (server-based session / desktop configuration and lockdown)
• Max-IT (CPU utilization management and virtual memory optimization)
• USB-IT (redirection of USB-connected handhelds - BlackBerry, Palm, and Pocket PC)
• VIP-IT (per-session IP address assignment)
• Block-IT (access control for blocking access to unsanctioned applications and network servers)
• Redirect-IT (per-user file and registry redirection)
• TimeZones-IT (per-session time zone assignment)

Who needs the Power Tools Edition?

• Organizations that own Citrix MetaFrame 1.8, MetaFrame XP, or Presentation Server 3.0, whose software maintenance has expired, and wish to extend the existing feature set without paying a hefty cost for upgrading to Citrix Presentation Server 4.0.
   
• Organizations that own Citrix MetaFrame 1.8, MetaFrame XP, or Presentation Server 3.0, or Presentation Server 4.0, and are dissatisfied with one or more of the built-in features for which VAS (Power Tools Edition) offers a more functional alternative (i.e., Universal Print Driver, PDA synchronization, etc).
   
• Organizations that own Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 and wish to add features not available or partially available in Citrix’s latest feature set. Such features include:

  • MetaProfiles-IT (advanced user profile management)
  • Manage-IT (server-based session / desktop configuration and lockdown)

  • Block-IT (access control for blocking access to unsanctioned applications and network servers)
  • Redirect-IT (per-user file and registry redirection)
  • TimeZones-IT (per-session time zone assignment)

• Organizations that own Citrix alternative solutions that deliver one or more of the common Citrix-like features, and wish to extend the existing feature set without paying a hefty cost for third-party tools that offer features similar to those found in VAS (Power Tools Edition). Common features found in Citrix alternative solutions include:

  • Load Balancing
  • Seamless Windows
  • Web Interface
  • SSL Gateway


Missing from typical Citrix alternative solutions are important enterprise-class features such as:
