Provision Networks’ Virtual
Access Suite to Supplement HP
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
June 25, 2007 – Reston, VA
-- Provision Networks, a global
provider of enterprise virtual
desktop deployment and
application delivery solutions,
announced today that its entire
product portfolio, including the
market-leading Virtual Access
Suite, can be resold by HP under
a distribution agreement the
companies have signed.
The acclaimed Provision
Networks Virtual Access Suite is
the only enterprise-class
desktop connection manager that
consolidates the delivery of
applications and deployment of
desktops from a centrally
managed infrastructure
consisting of terminal servers,
blade PCs (and other physical
desktops), as well as virtual
infrastructures such as VMware
VI3, Virtual Iron, XenEnterprise
and Microsoft Virtual Server.
HP’s Virtual Desktop
Infrastructure provides
customers the hardware,
management software,
virtualization software and
services they need to implement
a secure, flexible alternative
to traditional desktop
computing.
Customers who choose to
integrate the Provision Networks
Virtual Access Suite as part of
an HP Virtual Desktop
Infrastructure can improve IT
efficiency and lower their total
cost of ownership.
“We have been working with HP
for several months on many large
enterprise opportunities and are
beginning to see significant
traction together,” said Paul
Ghostine, co-Founder and CEO of
Provision Networks. “Based on
IDC market forecasts for shared
remote desktops, we estimate to
virtualize more than one million
desktops within the next 18
months with HP.”
Desktops are an integral part
of the enterprise IT
infrastructure. As distributed
end-points, they are the hardest
to secure, manage, maintain and
support. Desktop virtualization
lowers the desktop total cost of
ownership and empowers an IT
organization to take back
control of its desktop
infrastructure with better
security, isolation,
availability, agility,
manageability, and compliance,
while uncoupling the PC refresh
cycle from the constant upgrade
schedule of operating systems
and applications.
“HP’s leadership in
virtualization solutions is
further advanced through our
relationship with Provision
Networks,” said Scott Farrand,
Vice President, Industry
Standard Server Software, HP.
“The combination of Provision
Networks’ Virtual Access Suite
with our industry-leading
ProLiant servers and portfolio
of thin clients offers customers
a comprehensive, robust solution
to help optimize desktop
infrastructure investments and
address critical business
needs.”
“Desktop virtualization
offers an even bigger total
market opportunity than server
virtualization,” said John
Humphreys, Program VP of IDC’s
Enterprise Virtualization
program. “Provision Networks’
offerings, combined with HP’s
enterprise virtualization focus,
can help customers to reduce
complexity, increase
productivity and security across
the spectrum of virtual client
computing options.”
Operating in 49 countries on six
continents and with 2006
revenues exceeding $3.6 billion,
Brightstar has virtualized its
application and desktop
infrastructure by deploying
Provision Networks’ Virtual
Access Suite on HP ProLiant
DL585 servers running VMware
VI3. “The combination of HP’s
industry standard servers and
Provision Networks’
virtualization solution has
afforded us better availability,
manageability, agility and
security,” said Anthony
Escarpenter, Director of IT
Infrastructure & Security with
Brightstar Corp.
“We are rolling out more than
1200 HP tc4200 wireless tablets,
giving our faculty and student
body virtual access to
applications and desktops from
anywhere within the school
premises including classrooms
and labs,” said Doug Stone,
Director of IT with the
International School of
Brussels. “The Virtual Access
Suite from Provision Networks
running on HP BladeSystem
c-Class server blades has been
an instrumental platform for
virtualizing the school’s
desktop infrastructure and
providing anywhere anytime
availability, centralized
administration, and reduced
complexity through simplified
image management.”
