STRABAG Standardizes on Provision Networks Print-IT® to Enhance its Citrix Access Infrastructure

Europe’s Leading Construction Company Deploys New Print-IT® Infrastructure to Support the Needs of 32,000 Employees

February 16, 2005 – Provision Networks, the global providers of server-based access infrastructure provisioning, management, optimization and security solutions, announced today that Europe’s leading construction company, Strabag, standardized on Provision Networks Print-IT®, extending the printing functionality of the firm’s Citrix access infrastructure.

Headquartered in Germany, with 32,000 employees at over 500 locations in 27 countries, and a Citrix infrastructure consisting of 66 MetaFrame servers, printing was the major challenge faced by users and administrators alike. Hundreds of printer drivers installed on the MetaFrame servers to support over 32,000 employees and two dozen languages proved to be unmanageable. Even the native Citrix Universal Print Driver did not deliver the support for all printers and printer capabilities and was deemed inadequate.

InfoSys Informationssysteme GmbH unified all terminal servers Europe-wide by order of BAUHOLDING STRABAG SE in 2004 and at the same time searched for a new, powerful printing solution. The following comments were provided by André Bernhardt, Dipl-Ing. with InfoSys: “We have tested different products available on the market and after a thorough evaluation of all technical and economical factors we have taken a decision in favor of Print-IT. Especially positive we rate that Print-IT reads the properties of the local printer and creates a printer object on the terminal server with exactly the same properties. In our IT infrastructure it is the fastest working product of all tested products. From all of the tested products Print-IT is the only product able to send a print job via e-mail. Currently this product fits best into the STRABAG IT infrastructure and therefore keeps administration efforts low. Providing the Print-IT client as a MSI file minimizes installation effort and fits into the system of automated software deployment used by STRABAG.”

Print-IT® delivers true universal printing by virtually supporting any client or network printer, while inheriting the native printer’s properties and capabilities (i.e. multiple trays, different paper sizes, margins, etc.) Print-IT® delivers incredibly fast printing by drastically reducing the size of the print stream, and produces stunning print quality in either black and white or full color, with resolutions up to 2400 dpi.

Mike Moore, Vice President of Sales with Provision Networks commented: “Print-IT is the most powerful server-based infrastructure printing solution of its kind. Supporting both RDP and ICA, Print-IT has the most comprehensive features on the market. We are excited about the adoption of our solution by Strabag, after performing their internal unbiased product shootout. There’s nothing more meaningful than a customer’s endorsement.”
