Asbury Services Deploys Provision-IT Access Infrastructure

Asbury Services Lowers TCO of Access Infrastructure While Enhancing Functionality


February 3rd, 2005 - Provision Networks announced today that Asbury Services deployed its flagship Provision-IT for Microsoft access infrastructure solution enterprise-wide. The new deployment enables over 500 employees at seven different locations to access centrally managed and supported corporate applications securely from anywhere, anytime, over any type of connection.

“We needed to provide a unified web-based access infrastructure to all employees in the organization,” said David Herr, Director of Information Technology with Asbury Services. “Provision-IT leverages our Windows 2003 infrastructure and delivers the enhancements we needed such as load balancing, seamless windows, a web interface and application publishing – all this without the need for third-party printing, optimization, and security components. We can now deliver new applications to hundreds of users in minutes, not weeks. We also leverage our Provision infrastructure for remote access and business continuity”

Asbury Services centralized all their corporate applications, including Kronos, Ceridian, Achieve Pathlinks, REPS, as well as Microsoft Office, onto a single Provision-IT farm. The Provision Networks Web-IT (web interface) was employed and integrated into a Microsoft SharePoint portal to provide ubiquitous access to applications and other corporate resources. The Provision-IT for Microsoft solution was a perfect complement to the Windows 2003 infrastructure in place, and was performed as a migration from a previously deployed server-based access solution, that required a multitude of third party tools, and proved too expensive to maintain.

The foundation of the solution was based on the Provision Management Framework coupled with Provision-IT for Microsoft, the company’s flagship server-based access solution which has been designed specifically to enhance Windows 2003 Terminal Server. This integrated access management solution delivers all the components of the Provision Management Framework, and adds the following essential features to build usable large scale server farm environments:

- Seamless Windows: Allowing users to launch multiple applications simultaneously while enjoying the same experience as if the applications were running locally.
- Intelligent Load Balancing: Tracking over a dozen different load metrics, our intelligent load balancing feature ensure that users are connected to the least busy server.
- Application Publishing: Applications are easily published to users’ desktops or Start Menus, providing the familiar experience of local computing.
- Web Interface: With Web-IT® users now have a ubiquitous web front-end to access enterprise applications and resources regardless of location.
- Security: With Secure-IT® users are assured that their data is not compromised while traversing public networks. Secure-IT® provides SSL VPN tunneling to your Provision Networks access infrastructure.
